Welcome to Hubble Platform

This guide will help you successfully onboard your organization to the Hubble Platform, whether you are a new customer or migrating from the standard version.

What Happens After Purchase

Once you have purchased Hubble with Platform integration, here's what happens behind the scenes:

  1. Sales completion: Your sales opportunity is marked as closed/won in insightsoftware system
  2. Order processing: Order Management automatically initiates the onboarding process and creates a provisioning request
  3. Account provisioning:insightsoftware Platform team sets up your Hubble environment and creates your administrator account
  4. Welcome email: You will receive Platform credentials and login instructions via email

Your action: Watch for the welcome email to begin your onboarding process below.

Getting started

What You Will Need Before Beginning

To ensure a smooth onboarding process, please have the following ready:

  • Email addresses for all users who will need Platform access
  • Administrator credentials for your current Hubble standard version (if migrating)

Platform Account Setup

Once your Hubble Platform account has been provisioned:

  1. Check your email for a welcome message from insightsoftware containing your Platform login credentials
  2. Create your password using the link provided in the email
  3. Log in to the Platform using your assigned administrator account

Installation and Configuration

New Customers

  1. Install the latest Hubble version with Platform support, refer to the Hubble Desktop Installation Guide.
  2. Configure your repository and begin initial setup.
  3. Sign in using your initial administrator credentials.
  4. Add users and assign appropriate permissions (see the following User Management section).

Existing Customers (Migrating from Standard Version)

Step 1: Prepare Your Current System

Before migrating, you will need to prepare your standard version:

  1. Add an email address to the administrator account that will serve as the initial admin for the repository.
  2. Add email addresses for other users if available (this enables direct import to Platform).
  3. Create a backup of your repository for import into the Platform version.

Step 2: Complete the Migration

  1. Install the latest Hubble version with Platform support
  2. Restore your repository from the standard version backup using the Administrator tool
  3. Sign in to the repository using the administrator email address from your standard version

    Ensure this administrator account exists in the Platform

  4. Verify that all administrative options are available after successful authentication

CRITICAL: Export Users Immediately

Caution: For migrating customers, this step is essential:

After logging in as Administrator for the first time, you must export users as your very first action.

Required sequence:

  1. Migrate Repository
  2. Administrator Login
  3. IMMEDIATELY export users - Do not perform any other actions before this step

Why this matters: Failure to export users immediately will result in loss of major license assignments including Designer, Power, and View licenses for your migrated users.

User Management

Adding Users to Platform

You can add users using one of these methods:

  • Direct import: Use the Platform CSV template if you have user details readily available
  • From exported data: For migrating customers, export users from the Administrator tool, add email addresses, then import using the Platform CSV template

Refer to the Hubble Administration and Configuration Guide for details.

User License Types

The Platform supports three user license types:

  • Designer : Can create and modify reports and dashboards
  • Power User: Advanced user capabilities
  • Viewer: Read-only access to reports and dashboards

Web Access Configuration

Setting Up Web Authentication

Admin Login Setup (for Platform integration)

  1. In your Admin.exe config file, set the authentication mode to Standard.
  2. Sign in to the Admin Repository using your username and password.
  3. Map an email address that exists in the Platform to your Administrator user.
  4. Close the Administrator tool.
  5. Update the Admin.exe config file to use Platform authentication.
  6. Sign in again using the email you mapped to the Administrator user in the Platform.

Yellowbox Configuration (Technical Setup)

Your technical team will need to configure the following in your Yellowbox config:

  1. ProdAppRedirectKey: Set this to your application redirect key obtained when registering your Hubble Web Profile Selection URL .

    Example: https://<AppServerIP>/hubble/2/v3/profile-selection

  2. Authentication: Configure to point to Platform for proper user redirection.
  3. Restart IIS after making these configuration changes.

  1. A Product Manager will contact you to confirm successful setup
  2. You can begin adding additional users and configuring your Hubble environment
