Create a new Object Repository for the New version

Prerequisite

You will need the connection details to the new database, schema, or library from the section Create a new Database, Schema, or library for the new Object Repository when creating the object repository for the new version.

Steps to Create the New Object Repository

  1. Start the new Hubble version by going to the Hubble install directory and double-clicking on the Administration.exe file.

Note: Do not use the Hubble.exe, Microsoft Start Menu, or a short cut to access Hubble yet. Using anything other than the Administration.exe will result in changes to the directions below and cause confusion.

  2. You should see a screen indicating that the application does not know how to connect to the Object Repository (since the object repository has not been created yet).

  3. Click Next.

  4. Select Provide the information now, using this wizard and then click Next.

  5. On the Repository Database Connection details screen, add the database connection information, (again using the information obtained by your DBA when the new Database, Schema or library was created.
  6. In the Data Source section, from the Type dropdown, select one of the following based on the object repository details given to you by your DBA when the new database, schema, or library was created:
    • Microsoft SQL Server

    • Oracle

    • IBM DB2

  7. On the Repository Database Connection details screen, add the database connection information, (again using the information obtained by your DBA when the new Database, Schema or library was created).

For SQL Server, you must select Use this user name and add the dedicated database username and password.

  8. Click Next. Enter a name for the repository. The recommended naming convention is HUB<version>, so for example, Hubble Version 23.1 would be entered as HUB23_1.

  9. Enter the password information and store it as per your password management process.

  10. At this stage, do not add a key.

  11. Click Next.

  12. Click Finish to create the Object Repository.

  13. If you expand your connection items on the Main tab, you should see your new empty repository.

Save the Object Repository Details

The final step in this section is to save the .xml file into the Hubble install path. To do this, follow one of these options:

  • If you do not have Admin rights to the computer, ask a member of your IT team to join you, so they can use their admin ID and password when needed.

  • If you have Admin rights to the computer, navigate to the Hubble installation folder and give yourself permission to create files in the install directory.

  • If you have Admin rights to the computer but do not want to give yourself Admin rights to the Hubble folder, save the file to your desktop, downloads, or documents folder. Then copy and paste the file from one of those locations into the Hubble installation directory.

Steps to Save the Object Repository Details

  1. Select the new Object Repository in the administration tool, and click the Login button on the ribbon.

  2. In the Login pop-up, enter the Administrator username and password that you configured when you initially created the object repository. Then click OK.

  3. Agree to the End User License Agreement.

  4. To save the Repository connection details, select the object repository and then either from the ribbon select Save Selection or from the right-click menu select Save Repository Selection.

  5. In the Save dialog, navigate to your Hubble install path and save/create the RepositorySelection.xml file. Alternatively, you can also save the file to your desktop, downloads, or documents folder. Then copy and paste the file from one of those locations into the Hubble installation directory.
